5-Day Coastal Kayak Expedition

MCL (142)This unique adventure for boys and girls age 14 – 17 is a true sea kayaking expedition on the coast of Maine. The trip will begin in Stonington and end in Rockport Harbor. The group will be self-sufficient and camp in wilderness campsites on uninhabited islands as they travel.

Along the way, the group will work on group decision making techniques while learning about the marine environment and the history of the area through which they travel. Participants will learn sea kayaking, camping and leadership skills, and be involved in the planning and execution of the expedition.

Trip leaders are Registered Maine Guides and American Canoe Association Instructors, and are trained in Wilderness First Aid. Teen Expeditions will gather at Maine Sport Outfitters in Rockport, Maine, at 9 a.m. on the day of the scheduled departure. Participants can be picked up at 4 p.m. at Maine Sport on the final day of the trip.

Mountains & Sea Expedition

Steven 084Maine Sport Outfitters has teamed up with Acadia Mountain Guides to offer this unique multi-sport opportunity for kids within the age group of 13 – 18 in the summer of 2016.

Campers will rock climb, paddle, and hike on a journey through the down east coast of Maine. The trip focuses on outdoor adventures near Acadia National Park and the surrounding islands. Learn the ropes and rock climb on spectacular cliffs overlooking pristine lakes and the Atlantic Ocean. Paddle by sea kayak to an island where we will spend the night in Blue Hill Bay. The last days are spent rock climbing, rappelling, paddle boarding and enjoying time with new friends. This is a great opportunity to learn about many different outdoor activities in a short period of time. Steven 061Meet new friends, learn camping skills, land and sea navigation skills, and basic boating and climbing skills in this challenging and fun-filled seven day trip. Sea kayaking programs will be led by ACA certified instructors from Maine Sport and all rock climbing will be taught by PCIA or AMGA certified instructors from Acadia Mountain Guides. No experience required.

Cancellation Policy

All of our programs run rain or shine. Paddling in the rain and fog creates a unique experience. The only thing that keeps us off the water are lightning, high winds, and extremely heavy fog. If we cancel a program on a day in which you were scheduled, or if you cancel more than 24 hours before the program is scheduled to begin, you will receive a full refund. If you cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice, we will refund your deposit less a booking fee equal to 20% of the total program amount.
