Treeline: A Story Written in Rings

Treeline celebrates the forests on which humans have always depended. Follow a group of skiers, snowboarders, scientists and healers as they explore the birch forests of Japan, the red cedars of British Columbia and the bristlecones of Nevada, delving deeper into the rich environments they call home. (40 mins.)

The Last Hill

Searching for an honest adventure right out their backdoor, a group of skiers and snowboarders travel south from Reno, Nevada on bicycles loaded down with ski and camp gear. Their sights on Mt. Whitney and the endless backcountry ski terrain along the way, these off-the-couch bikers hilariously struggle to keep both wheels moving along the iconic Highway 395 from a new angle: the Sierra saddle vista. (15 min.)

The Hurricane Island Center for Science and Leadership (HICSL) is a scientific and education community on Hurricane Island that provides experiential, hands-on education programs and research opportunities focusing on marine sciences, STEM education, human ecology, sustainable living technology, citizen science initiatives, and leadership in environmental stewardship for all ages from middle school to adults. Our goal is to excite people about doing science and about being leaders in the next wave of scientific discovery and environmental conservation. During much of the year, these programs take place on Hurricane Island--one of the most unique and beautiful settings on the Atlantic coast. In the off-season, our staff works with teachers and students to support, enhance, and develop experiential, project-based science and leadership education within the classroom.

The Hurricane Island Center for Science and Leadership was incorporated as a non-profit organization under the name of The Hurricane Island Foundation in 2009 and is a publicly supported 501(3).
